WBASK closes out road schedule in Ottawa

With the playoffs on the horizon, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-9) will get a taste of playoff basketball as they take on the top two teams in the RPI rankings this weekend on the road, the Carleton Ravens (10-5) on Friday night, and the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday (13-2).

- after splitting their games against Guelph and Lakehead last weekend, the purple and gold will be searching for at least another split on the road in order to have a chance at recording their sixth consecutive season of at least .500 basketball
- Laurier picked up a win in their last time out as they controlled from start-to-finish in a 77-60 win over Lakehead
- the Ravens picked up a win and a loss in a pair of road games last weekend as they disposed of the Brock Badgers before losing to the No. 8 McMaster Marauders
- Ottawa, meanwhile, swept their McMaster-Brock road swing to improve their league-best record to 13-2 this season
- Laurier has enjoyed good success against their Ottawa counterparts over the past two season as the Hawks are a perfect 2-0 against both the Ravens and the Gee-Gees

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-9)

G Kaitlyn Schenck (Kitchener, Ont.)
- the fourth year guard extended her streak of recording at least 10 points in a game to six last weekend as she hit double figures against both Guelph and Lakehead
- Schenck is currently averaging career highs in minutes played (29.2/game), field goal percentage (37.0) and points (12.2/ga,e) this season

G IRENA RYNKIEWICZ (Mississauga, Ont.)
- the rookie forward continues to be one of the stories this season for head coach Paul Falco’s squad as the walk-on is averaging 11.6 minutes per game and 5.4 points per game
- last weekend, Rynkiewicz averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds as the Hawks lost to Guelph before defeating Lakehead

Carleton Ravens (10-5)

F Heather Lindsay (Ottawa)
- third year forward is having a strong season for the Ravens as she’s averaging a double-double of 15.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game

G Nicole Gilmore (Hamilton)
- the second year guard has provided Carleton with some strong secondary scoring this year and is currently averaging 6.8 points per game

Ottawa Gee-Gees (13-2) - No. 7 in Canada

F Catherine Traer (Chelsea, Que.)
- fourth year forward has picked up right where she left off before getting injured as she averaged 20.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in a pair of wins over McMaster and Brock last weekend 

F Katherine Lemoine (Cornwall, Ont.)
- the third year forward is also coming off a big weekend where she scored 30 points in two games to raise her season average to 9.5 points per contest
