On the verge of officially clinching a playoff berth, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (7-8) will host the Guelph Gryphons (7-6) on Friday night before honouring their graduating seniors on Saturday night when they take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves (5-8).

- during Saturday night’s game against Lakehead, head coach Paul Falco and his staff will recognize the contributions of graduating seniors COURTNEY BRUCE of Orillia, Ont., and Heather Payne of North Bay, Ont., at halftime

- the Hawks come into this weekend fresh off a split of their road games in Toronto as they lost a narrow 86-75 decision to No. 5 Ryerson before upending the Toronto Varsity Blues 79-62
- both Guelph and Lakehead enter play this week also coming off a split as they both lost to the Queen’s Gaels while defeating the York Lions
- Laurier and Guelph are in a close battle for a home playoff berth as the Hawks currently sit 10th in the RPI rankings while the Gryphons are in ninth
- the Hawks have enjoyed a considerable amount of success against Guelph as of late as they have won eight of the last 10 meetings
- in their other matchup, Laurier is riding a two-game losing streak to the Thunderwolves after dropping their only meeting to Lakehead last year 73-59
- any combination of two Laurier victories, or a Laurier win and a Waterloo defeat, will officially send the purple and gold through to the OUA playoffs
