WATERLOO, Ont. (February 8, 2016) - Women's basketball guard NICOLE MORRISON of Hamilton, and men's hockey forward Greg Cerilli of Barrie, Ont., have been named the Laurier Bookstore Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 7, 2016.
Morrison, a third year guard, who has been a consistent offensive force for the Golden Hawks, is now ranked fourth for scoring average in the OUA at 16.2 points per game after another strong weekend. The communications major scored 17 points in the 86-75 loss to No. 5 Ryerson on Friday and notched a game-high 20 points in Laurier's 79-62 win over Toronto Saturday,
Her continued excellence on the court earned her honours as Laurier's Female Athlete of the week for the second time this season and the third time in her career.
Cerilli, a fourth year left wing and captain of the men's hockey team, had a standout weekend as the Golden Hawks went 1-2 against their opponents. The geography major recorded a pair of assists in Laurier's 3-2 loss to UOIT before scoring the shootout winner in Laurier's 4-3 victory over Queen's, his final regular season home as a member of the purple and gold.
This is Cerilli's first time being honoured as Laurier Male Athlete of the Week.
