WATERLOO, Ont. (January 25, 2016) - Women's basketball guard NICOLE MORRISON of Hamilton, and men's basketball guard Will Coulthard of Oakville, Ont., have been honoured as this week's Laurier Bookstore Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 24, 2016.
Morrison, a third year guard, assisted her team to a 2-0 record last week as she averaged 14 points, six rebounds and three assists over the two games against opponents from the OUA North division. The communications studies major contributed 17 points, four rebounds and two assists in Laurier's exciting 71-66 come-from-behind victory over Laurentian following a 75-54 win over Nipissing when she recorded 11 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Morrison is currently tied for sixth in OUA scoring averaging 15.3 points per game.
This is Morrison's second time in her career being honoured as the Laurier Female Athlete of the Week.
Coulthard, a fifth year guard, assisted his team to two victories over competing OUA North teams with an average of 29.5 points, two rebounds and two assists over two games. The geography major tallied 32 points to edge out Nipissing 73-72, and added 27 points in the 97-68 victory over Laurentian. Coulthard is ranked sixth in the OUA scoring with a season average of 20.7 points per game.
This is Coulthard's seventh occasion being named the Laurier Male Athlete of the Week.
