WBASK opens 2016 at home against Brock & Mac

Following a month and a half layoff from conference play, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (3-4) return to OUA action this week at home against the Brock Badgers (5-2) and the No. 7 McMaster Marauders (5-2).

- Wednesday night’s game against Brock is the annual Winter Carnival game on campus. Last season, over 1,000 fans attended the doubleheader against Western
- Laurier student tickets are only $2 for both doubleheaders against Brock and McMaster
- during the men’s portion of the doubleheader, one lucky fan could win up to $250 in GradVANTAGES Shoot to Win promotion while hip hop performer and Laurier grad Tobi Aji will perform during halftime
- Autograph Day, which was originally scheduled for Saturday against McMaster, has been rescheduled to Saturday, February 13 against Lakehead

- the Hawks enter 2016 on a two-game losing skid in regular season play after dropping narrow decisions to the now-nationally ranked Queen’s Gaels and the York Lions
- Brock also enters the game coming off a loss as they fell to the reigning CIS Champions, the Windsor Lancers, 67-63 last weekend
- McMaster, which also hasn’t played a conference game since late November, come in having won two straight games over York and the Guelph Gryphons
- Laurier has won three straight games against the Badgers, and eight of their last 10 regular season meetings
- the Hawks and Marauders have played each other very closely over the last three season with each team winning three of the last six matchups

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (3-4)

G Courtney Bruce (Orillia, Ont.)
- the fifth year guard recorded her first career double-double in Laurier’s last regular season game before the break as she scored 12 points and pulled down 14 rebounds
- Bruce currently ranks fourth in team scoring averaging 9.0 points per game while leading the team in rebounding at 6.4 per game

- the third year guard is having an all-star calibre season so far as she ranks ninth in conference scoring averaging 16.1 points per game while leading her team in assists per game at 2.4 per contest
- Morrison has scored 20 or more points three times this year including a season-best 22 against York in the Hawks final game before the break.

Brock Badgers (5-2)

F Kate Harpur (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.)
- one of four Badgers averaging 10 or more points per game this season, the fifth year forward leads her team in rebounding as she averages 8.6 per game

F Kira Cornelissen (Aylmer, Ont.)
- the third year forward leads Brock in scoring this season at 11.4 points per game and had 14 points in the Badgers most recent loss to the Windsor Lancers

McMaster Marauders (5-2) - No. 7 in Canada

G Danielle Boiago (Hamilton)
- the fourth year guard has been the most prolific scorer in the conference this season as she averages over 19 points per game

F Clare Kenney (Gananoque, Ont.)
- a fourth year forward, Kenney is a presence on both ends of the floor as she averages 11.6 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game
