THE SKINNY
Riding a three-game win streak heading into the final weekend of action before the holiday break, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (3-2) host the Queen’s Gaels (4-1) and the York Lions (0-5) at the Athletic Complex this weekend.

NEED TO KNOW
- following a pair of losses to open the season, the Hawks have won three straight games, including a convincing 88-56 decision over the Waterloo Warriors last weekend
- after opening the year 4-0, the Gaels head into this weekend coming off their first loss of the season, a 69-50 defeat at the hands of the No. 7 Brock Badgers
- the Lions have struggled to start the year and are winless in each of their five games, including losses to nationally-ranked Brock and McMaster last weekend
- Friday’s contest against Queen’s marks the first time the two schools have met since the Gaels eliminated the Hawks in double overtime during the OUA Quarter-finals a year ago 
- Laurier has won five straight regular season contests against the Gaels, including a 56-53 win last year in Kingston
- the Hawks also own a three-game winning streak against York which includes a 44-point victory on the road a year ago

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (3-2)

F Alexandra Spadaro (Grimsby, Ont.)
- the Hawks fourth year guard comes into the weekend as Laurier’s reigning Female Athlete of the Week
- Schenck had a big weekend for the purple and gold, averaging 14 points per game against Algoma and has scored in double figures in each of Laurier’s four games this season

G NICOLE MORRISON (Hamilton)
- the third year guard has been a sparkplug off the bench for the Hawks so far this season
- one of the Hawks top threats from three-point range, Dillon is averaging nearly 11 points per game while averaging just over 21 minutes a contest

Queen’s Gaels (4-1)

F Jenny Wright (Kingston, Ont.)
- the Gaels leading scorer this season, the fifth year forward is averaging 12.2 points per game and has scored in double-figures in four of Queen’s five games this year

F Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.)
- the third year forward was named the Gaels Female Athlete of the Week last week after posting a double-double in Queen’s 60-53 upset win over No. 6 McMaster

York Lions (0-5)

G Ishanaa Seupersadsingh (Markham, Ont.)
- a fourth year guard for the Lions, Seupersadsingh is leading her team in scoring this season averaging 10.4 points per game

G Katrina Collins-Samuels (Hamilton, Ont.)
- the rookie guard, currently second on her team in scoring, has shown the ability to put the ball in the hoop as she scored 21 points in the Lions’ closest game of the season, a 61-59 loss to Laurentian
