WATERLOO, Ont. (November 21, 2015) – NICOLE MORRISON and Alexandra Spadaro shone in the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks dominating 88-56 victory over the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday afternoon.

Third year guard NICOLE MORRISON (Hamilton, Ont.) led the Hawks offence as she racked up an outstanding 21 points while adding two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Following her teammate, third year forward Alexandra Spadaro (Grimsby, Ont.) recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while adding two steals and an assist on the afternoon.

Emerging as the stronger team right from tipoff, the Golden Hawks drained basket after basket while the Warriors struggled to keep pace and after the first ten minutes of play the Hawks were up 32-8.

Going into the second quarter with a lot of ground to make up, the Warriors (0-5) cranked up their game and managed to close the gap by five points off the strength of Emily Wilk (Oakville, Ont.) to end the first half with Laurier by score of 47-28.

Third year point guard Wilk recorded 10 points and three rebounds to lead her team for points by the halfway mark. Laurier’s Morrison had accrued an impressive 18 points and two rebounds in her 12 minutes of play for the purple and gold, while Spadaro notched 11 points and 7 rebounds.

The second half played out in similar fashion to the opening half. The Golden Hawks came out following the break with a 28-10 performance for the third quarter and the Warriors responded with another five-point gain in the fourth. Wilk finished the game with a team-high 18 points and 4 rebounds on the day.

However, Wilk's performance wasn't nearly enough as the Hawks walked away with an easy 88-56 victory over their hometown rivals. Laurier (3-2) finished with a 41 percent success rate from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc, while Waterloo only shot 28 percent from the field and 14 percent from three points range.

The Hawks look to extend their three-game win streak next Friday night when they host the Queen’s Gaels at home on November 27th at 6:00 p.m.
