OTTAWA (October 26, 2015) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s basketball team closed out their preseason schedule this past weekend at the Metro Glebe Tournament hosted by the Carleton Ravens.
Laurier opened the three-day tournament against the UQAM Citadins on Friday night. An off-night for the Hawks offence resulted in a 62-37 defeat for the purple and gold. The Hawks managed to shoot just 18.3 percent on the night and were held scoreless in the second quarter after leading the Citadins 16-14 after the opening quarter.
The Hawks rebounded with a better effort in their second game on Saturday against the host Ravens but still came up short, losing 73-65.
Morrison and Kaitlyn Schenck of Kitchener, Ont., had big nights for Laurier as they finished with 23 and 22 points respectively, accounting for 45 of the Hawks 65 points.
In their final game of the weekend, Laurier suffered an 85-52 win to the Regina Cougars.
Laurier finishes up preseason play with a 3-5 record and they will now look ahead to their regular season opener on the road against the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday, November 4.
