East victorious in 13th East West Bowl

MONTREAL, Que. (May 11, 2015) – Three Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks football players, along with four coaching staff, appeared for the West in the 13th annual CIS East West Bowl which was won 29-21 by the East.

Golden Hawk quarterback James Fracas of Waterloo, Ont., split time at the position for the West as he connected on seven of 11 passes for 85 yards and one touchdown. He was one of four quarterbacks to see action in the contest and all four threw for at least one touchdown.

Fracas also had one carry for a gain of 24 yards, showcasing his ability to run the football out of the pocket.

Third year receiver Greg Nyhof of Georgetown, Ont., caught two passes for eight yards and rushed once for six yards. He also chipped in on special teams recording 1.5 tackles.

Both teams generated over 400 yards in net offence, with the East racking up 494, while the West had 407.

Linebacker Anthony Petrucci made three solo tackles for the West defence.

Head Coach MICHAEL FAULDS, Special Teams Coordinator Dwayne Cameron, Offensive Coordinator Mark Surya and Offensive Line Coach Irv Daymond  served as a part of Danny Maciocia’s coaching staff for the West.

It was the fifth victory in six years for the East, which improved to 6-7 overall in the annual Canadian Football League prospects game, which showcases – for the most part – CIS players who will be eligible for the following year's CFL draft.
