Offence powers MBASE to Saturday sweep
Laurier: 14 York: 0

The Wilfrid Laurier men’s baseball team travelled to Aurora to take on York for the first time since 2003, as York has made their return to OUA Baseball in 2014 after competing in the CIBA for the past 10 years.  Laurier swung the bats well today and put up a lot of runs in the double header sweep.

Game One - Laurier 14 York 0
Laurier scored 14 runs in this one, but the offence was overshadowed by a dominant pitching performance from Brett van Pelt who threw a 1 hit shutout.  This game was called after 7 innings due to the 10 run mercy rule.

“We were happy with the way we played today," commented Head Coach SCOTT BALLANTYNE.  “Both van Pelt and Ziedins were excellent on the mound and that is the strength of our team. Our offence did their part today as well and we had a number of innings where we scored multiple runs. That kind of offensive pressure makes it hard on our opponents”.

The two wins improves the Golden Hawks record to 7-1 in conference play.
