MBASE splits doubleheader with Warriors
Laurier: 7 Waterloo: 2

The Wilfrid Laurier Men’s Baseball team hosted Waterloo on Tuesday night for a double header following a rain out last Saturday.  The two teams split the double header with Laurier winning game one 7-2 and Waterloo bouncing back to take a narrow 5-4 victory in game two.

Game One - Laurier 7 Waterloo 2
Jordan Petruska worked the complete game for Laurier and was a bulldog on the mound.  Laurier scored in 6 of their 8 offensive innings and had runners on base all night long in that was the team’s best overall offensive game of the year to date.

“This was a very typical OUA double header tonight,” commented Head Coach SCOTT BALLANTYNE.  “We got great pitching in game one and they got some great pitching in game two.  The team that made the fewest mistakes won and on this night, we made more mistakes in game two and came out on the short end of the stick.  I was impressed by our relentless offensive pressure in game one and if we play like that, we’ll be tough to beat on most nights”.

The Golden Hawks are now 5-1 in conference play (9-7 overall) and host Toronto on Wednesday night for a non-conference game.  Laurier’s next conference action is on Saturday at York for a double-header.
