BASK teams set to host first Hawk Madness
WATERLOO, Ont. (October 23, 2013) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawk men's and women's basketball teams will be hosting their very first Hawk Madness event this Thursday night at the Athletic Complex.

This free event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. with doors opening at 8 p.m.

Modelled off of similar events hosted by NCAA teams, Hawk Madness is a great opportunity for fans to get to know this years edition of the two squads. The event will feature individual player introductions for each athlete followed by an introductory speech from both head coaches, PAUL FALCO and Peter Campbell

Following the introductions, the two teams will compete in a shooting contest that will feature 12 teams of one men's and one women's player, along with a first year student. Each team will compete for one of the various residences in attendance and will have to complete a variety of different shots in the fastest time possible.

Fans will then be treated to a slam dunk contest featuring members of the men's basketball team. Judging each dunk will be a panel of celebrity judges including mens football head coach Michael Faulds, The Hawk and local CTV sports personality Darren Stevenson.

Finally, the purple and gold game will feature the men's and women's team each playing an intra-squad game lasting two shortened quarters. Guest coaches, featuring WLUSU president Annie Constantinescu, will guide each team with in-game commentary and sideline interviews with coaches and players happening during the contests.

Throughout the evening, fans in attendance will have plenty of opportunities to participate and win great prizing, including one lucky fan having the chance to Bowl for $10,000. So make sure you come out to the Athletic Complex on Thursday night to witness what is sure to be an amazing night of basketball talent!
