This Week in Laurier Athletics
WATERLOO, Ont. (October 2, 2013) - Welcome to the fifth edition of This Week in Laurier Athletics for the 2013-14 season. In this week's edition, we tee up the busiest weekend of action for the Hawks in 2013-14 as women's hockey, women's and men's soccer, men's rugby, women's rugby and men's baseball all compete at home.

FEATURED GAME: W Hockey vs Windsor (Friday, October 4 - 7:30 p.m.)

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women's hockey team is set to kickoff their 2013-14 season when they host the Windsor Lancers on Friday night at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.

After a strong preseason that saw them win the inaugural Gaels Invitational, as well as defeat the defending CIS Champions, the Montreal Carabins, in a shootout, the Hawks now turn their attention to recapturing the OUA Championship that was taken from them last season.

It will be a new-look squad hitting the ice this season as head coach RICK OSBORNE has brought in eight rookies to add to a strong returning core. However, expectations remain the same and the Hawks will be looking to replicate the success they had against Windsor last season starting tonight. Laurier was a perfect 3-0-0 against the Lancers, including posting a pair of shutouts against them a year ago.
