KITCHENER, Ont. (July 23, 2013) - The fifth annual Wilfrid Laurier Baseball Alumni Golf tournament was held on Wednesday, July 17th at Doon Valley Golf Course in Kitchener. The event was a huge success with 75 golfers taking part and enjoying the beautiful weather and a chance to support the men's baseball team.
The team of Pat Schooley, Dan Adair, Kevin Thurston and Matt Johnson shot 13 under par to tie for the low score in the tournament with the team of Brian Bishop, Luke Potwarka, Mike Andrulis and Chris Gee.
In addition to golf, the event was an opportunity for head coach SCOTT BALLANTYNE to introduce the 2013 recruiting class, as four of the seven high school recruits for 2013 were in attendance. 13 Golden Hawk Alumni took part in the event which bridges the past success of the program with the future. Alumni in attendance included: SCOTT BALLANTYNE, Jordan Bilkas, Scott Smith, Matt Snoei, Brian MacDonald, Pat Kropf, James Bruce, Mike Kennedy, Scott Mahn, Chris Pittaway, Kylie Masur and former coaches Paul Reidel and Don Pickett.
The 2013 Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks will kick off their training camp on Saturday, August 17th as they look to improve upon their 2012 season. There is an expanded OUA conference schedule this year with the addition of the Ryerson Rams as the ninth team to join the OUA. The Golden Hawks will open up the regular season on Wednesday, September 4th at Bechtel Park in Waterloo vs. the Waterloo Warriors.
