WATERLOO, Ont. (September 13, 2012) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks were very gracious hosts to the Western Mustangs in OUA Baseball action on Wednesday night.
The Golden Hawks made three errors and issued 15 walks which led to an 18-3 win for the Mustangs in one of the worst losses in recent years for Laurier.
Western got off to a fast start with three runs in the first inning with no hits as Laurier starter Brett van Pelt struggled with his control and walked six Western hitters. Western rolled from there and scored in every inning except the fourth on route to the runaway win.
"Just one of those days," commented Head Coach SCOTT BALLANTYNE after the game. "We have put a lot of preparation and hard work into the season and tonight we looked like it was our first game. We couldn't do much right tonight, but the key for us will be how we rebound and learn from this. We have five games over the weekend and so there is no time for us to feel sorry for ourselves. We'll re-group and come ready to play this weekend."
