WATERLOO, Ont. (July 26, 2012) - Wilfrid Laurier women's basketball head coach PAUL FALCO
announced today the addition of former University of Miami recruit Lee Anna Osei
for the upcoming season.
"We are happy to add a guard with Lee Anna's experience to our roster for the upcoming season," said Falco of Osei. "She has had some hard luck with injuries in the past and we are glad she chose the Golden Hawks as the place to re-start her varsity career."
Osei, a 5-5 guard who is originally from Toronto, was awarded a scholarship in 2009-10 to play for the Hurricanes. The following year, she played in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with the Trinity Valley Cardinals, helping her squad to a second place finish at the JUCO National Tournament and earning her Associates of Arts Degree.
Prior to her time in the United States, Osei helped Eastern Commerce CI in Toronto make history as they became the first Toronto high school to win back-to-back OFSAA gold, capturing the 'AAA' championship in 2008 before winning the 'AAAA' title in 2009. In her final season at Eastern Commerce, she was named a Toronto Star Top 5 athlete of the year along with new teammate Whitney Ellenor
Osei and the Golden Hawks will open their 2012-13 season with a non-conference game against Cape Breton on October 11 at 7 p.m. at the Athletic Complex. Lauriers regular season opener will be on November 9 at 6 p.m. on the road against the Queen's Gaels.
