On Thursday, November 17th around 5pm, the WLU Competitive Dance Team took part in their second challenge as finalists for the BBMessenger Sponsorship Program. The competition is sponsored by Campus Perks and Blackberry, and the Competitive Dance Team is the chosen WLU representative of 17 finalists from 17 universities across Canada.
Their first challenge, the 'Happiness Challenge', occurred a few weeks back, where the dance team spread joy and happiness to WLU students all day through baked goods, free giveaways, free coffee and hot chocolate, music, dancing, compliment boards, free exam care packages, and puppies!
The second challenge involved executing a Flashmob, and the dance team really showed what they've got to the Laurier community! Advertised as '5 Minutes of Free Giveaways', the dance team brought in tons of students for their surprise Flashmob! Students filled the Concourse, waiting in anticipation, creating an incredible sense of excitement and anticipation within the air! The dance team then performed a complicated routine, accompanied by various other Laurier students and groups such as Hawkapella, WLU Composer's and Improv Association, and JDCC Laurier. After the Flashmob, they then proceeded to hand out free Blackberry sponsored giveaways.
The dance team has one more challenge to complete this semester, so be sure to look out for that! They will be posting the official video from their Flashmob soon.
The Competitive Dance Team would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in their Flashmob and free giveaway event! Be sure to catch them performing at halftime at the WLU Men's and Women's basketball games this upcoming Friday November 25th at 6 & 8pm, and Saturday November 26th at 1 & 3pm!
