LONDON, Ont.- The 2-2 Golden Hawks travelled to London on Friday to face the 3-1 Mustangs in a replay of last season's OUA Championship final.
In 2009 Western handed Laurier a pair of regular season losses, and went on to sweep the Hawks in the championship series. On Friday's doubleheader once again the Hawks came out on the losing side of things, with the Mustangs winning both games of the set.
Andrew Bergman earned the win for the Mustangs in game one, giving up only one run and four hits in eight innings of work, on route to a 6-3 victory.
Andrew Greenberg (Richmond Hill, Ont.) threw for the Golden Hawks, giving up six runs - five earned, and six hits in 6 2/3 innings pitched. WESLEY VAN LUVEN (Orillia, Ont.) threw 1 1/3 innings giving up one hit.
Game two saw a real pitcher's duel between Western's Adam Paish and Laurier's Stephen Zagrodny (Mississauga, Ont.).
Paish shut out the Hawks in the seven inning match up giving up only two hits and paving the way for the Mustang's 2-0 win. Zagrodny certainly gave a fair fight giving up only one earned run and four hits.
Laurier's only hits of the game came from third-baseman Ryan Panas (Toronto, Ont.) who went 2-3.
The Hawks next take on the Brock Badgers on Sunday at home. Games are at 1 and 3:00 p.m. at Bechtel Park.
