This past Sunday, March 28th showcased many of Laurier’s most talented dancers. The second incredible Dance Showcase of the school year brought together a crowd of over 1,000 friends, family and fans of Laurier Recreation. The special addition this year of Dancing With the Stars made for a night of laughter and great entertainment.
This term the Dance Showcase raised $421 and 15 boxes of non-perishable food for the Food Bank. We hope with this donation will help to feed families in the area.
Some highlights of the show included a performance for our Street Dance class, great performances from our special guests; Heather Ferris
, TED COLLINS
and Laura Sheridan. However, the show-stopper of the night went to our very own Athletics & Recreation Director, Peter Baxtor. Peter and his partner Jennah stole the show and won the Dancing with the Stars competition with their swing/hip hop dance.
All participants should be commended for their hard work in all dances, their passion and enthusiasm for dance showed through in every performance. Each class put in extra practices, and long days to prepare for the showcase and we would like to thank them for their support.
A special mention to Amanda Hall
, our Special Interest Coordinator. After three years in her role and six Dance Showcases Amanda will be graduating Laurier this year. On behalf of the department and all the dancers we want to thank her for all her hard work and dedication over these years and we wish you all the best.
Do you want to be a part of the Dance Showcase next year? Registration for all dance classes and other Recreational programs will begin again September 1st. For more information log on to www.laurierathletics.com in the summer.
