WATERLOO, Ont. - Lindsay Druery (Smithville, Ont.) and Sarah Gordon (Halifax) each broke the 20 point barrier as the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves defeated the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 84-61.

Laurier falls to 4-7 while the Thunderwolves improve to 7-4 on the season.

"In the second quarter we had several defensive lapses," said head coac PAUL FALCO. "Combined with out turnovers, it allowed them to control the tempo of the game."

Lakehead only held a two point advantage after the first quarter, before the flood gates opened and the visitors outscored the Hawks 22-10 in the second. At half it was 40-26. The Thunderwolves continued their scoring pace putting up 25 and 19 points in the final two quarters. Laurier played with the visitors, but couldn’t overcome their first half deficit.

For the Thunderwolves Lindsay Druery scored 23 while Sarah Gordon put down 20. Gordon and Druery were all the visitors top rebounders with seven and six respectively.

For the Hawks Renata Adamczyk (Greensville, Ont.) led the way with an 11 point night, while also picking up a team high seven boards.

These two teams will meet again on Saturday, January 16th at 6 p.m. at the Wilfrid Laurier Athletic Complex.
