2009 Men's Baseball Try-Outs

The 2009 edition of the WLU men's baseball program will officially kick-off the season on Friday, August 28th with the first official try-out for the 2009 team. In 2008, Laurier failed to qualify for post-season play for the first time in three years and will look to get back to post-season play in 2009. The returning players have been working hard together since November to prepare for the new season and the team is looking to continue to build their program in 2009.

The try-outs are open to all student-athletes interested in earning a spot on the 2009 roster. All interested players should meet at Bechtel Park in Waterloo at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28th to meet the coaching staff and sign in. Following the sign-in we will practice from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (with lunch provided after practice). The student-athletes will re-convene at 6:00 p.m. for fitness testing at the Laurier Athletic Complex.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MEDICAL INFORMATION:

This form can be accessed here.

- Returning student athletes are required to complete The Veteran Athlete Health Assessment Form before he participates in interuniversity sport, which includes the first try-out.  This form updates the student athlete’s medical history over the past 12 months. This form can be accessed here.

No athlete will be allowed to participate in the workouts until these forms are completed and submitted to the coaching staff. Please have them completed prior to arrival on August 28th to help ensure the sign-in process goes smoothly to allow for practice to begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. For first year student athletes, in the event that a medical cannot be arranged with your family doctor, please contact coach Ballantyne and there will be arrangements made to have a doctor at WLU conduct the physical assessment. Please be aware that there is a charge for completing this process through WLU.
