WATERLOO – Liz Knox
(Stouffville, Ont.) deflected 23 shots over three periods to lead the Wilfrid Laurier
Golden Hawks over the University of Waterloo Warriors 5-0 in front of 211 fans at
Columbia Ice Fields.

Laurier opened the scoring midway through the first period with Kate Psota
scoring the eventual game winning goal at 10:34 with the assist going to Lauren
Barch (Burlington, Ont.). The Hawks continued to pepper Waterloo goalie Erica Bridgewater with
shots, tallying 32 on net throughout the game.
The Hawks strong defensive backend led by team captain Andrea Bevan
(Collingwood, Ont.) kept the
Warriors to the perimeter to prevent scoring chances.
With the Warriors on their heels, the lady Hawks continued to apply pressure in
the offensive zone with goals coming from rookie Abby Rainsberry
(Petrolia, Ont.), Heather
Fortuna (Kitchener, Ont.), Candace Kellough
(Bolton, Ont.) and Andrea Ironside
Laurier continued its strong penalty kill forcing the Warriors to go scoreless
in eight opportunities. On the flip side the purple and gold scored one goal in
The Golden Hawks (1-0) will play their season opener against the University of
Western Ontario Mustangs (1-1) on Friday October 10th at 7:30 p.m.
at the Waterloo Recreation Complex.
