OTTAWA – Golden Hawk Andrea Bevan
was named to the 2006-07 all-Canadian all-star team this evening.
The defenseman from Collingwood, Ontario was the only member of the #2 nationally ranked Wilfrid Laurier hockey program to receive the national accolades.
This season the third year student-athlete picked up 26 points including 13 points and 13 assists. Of the 13 goals, six have been on the power play and two of them were game winners. In the post season Bevan scored two goals in the provincial gold medal game.
"Andrea is a very offensively gifted player who is equally at home playing forward and defense," commented head coach RICK OSBORNE
. "She is willing to play any role that is needed of her to benefit the team and has done a good job of it."
Bevan lost out on the national Most Valuable Player award to Alberta’s Lindsay McAlpine. Fiona Aiston

also did not win their national awards for Marion Hillard Award and Coach of the Year.
#1 ranked McGill dominated all-star selection with three members on the five-member first team, one on the second and another on the all-rookie team.
The Golden Hawk women’s hockey program opens pool play at the National Championships on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they play against the Ottawa Gee Gee’s. The game will be webcasted live on the internet at www.ssncanada.ca
