WATERLOO – Morgan Wielsgosz backstopped the Hawks while Lauren Barch scored her first hat trick of her career to lead the team to a 3-0 shutout over their cross-town rivals the Waterloo Warriors.

“We were sluggish off the start of the game,” said head coach RICK OSBORNE. “We ended the game with a shutout and that is what is important when you are heading to one-game playoffs.”

No scoring took place in the first period of the game. The game opener was 14:02 into the second period where the second was four-minutes later. The final goal was midway through the third period. Two of the three Barch goals were while the Golden Hawks were on the power play.

Backstop Morgan Wielgosz faced only 13 shots in the game while Alexis Huber saw 32 shots in the game.

Barch, the team scoring leader (14 goals) now is also tied with Andrea Bevan in power-play goals with a total of six.

The game marked the conclusion of the 2006-07 season at home as the team only has a single road game left this year – next weekend versus Guelph. The team has already qualified for the OUA Final Four which will take place in London at Thompson Arena on March 10th and 11th.
