Laurier: 1 Brock: 1
The Laurier men’s soccer team looked to improve on their disappointing loss the day before against the Waterloo Warriors, as they faced off against the Brock Badgers in wet conditions down in St. Catherines. The boys were focused and they dominated the game for a solid 75 minutes of the game. Steve Cox
was the lone goal scorer for the Hawks as he skied above everyone else to head home a cross from Richie Antolcic
putting the Hawks up 1-0 at half time. The second half saw the Hawks control much of the play untill about the 80 minute mark, as Brock began to put pressure on the defence. Mark Ignor
saved the Hawks, stopping a volley from a Brock player who found himself all alone inside the six-yard box. The Hawks were able to keep the Badgers out for the majority of their pressure, but after a scramble in front of the Laurier net, Brock squeezed a shot past Mark to tie the game at 1-1. The Hawks picked up the pace and took back control of the game with the best chance coming off a cross from Jonathan Miller
that saw Dan Glibotta just miss wide. Unfortunately this was how the game ended, a 1-1 tie. “We played very well. I am not upset at all with the way we played, we just couldn’t finish and that is something we are going to have to work on. We need to finish off teams once we have them up against the ropes” explained head coach BARRY MACLEAN
. The Hawks will look to add one last win to the win column as they play their last game of the season against the Western Mustangs October 23rd in what will be a very good match up.
