Laurier: 3 Waterloo: 0
With a great performance on Friday night the Laurier men’s soccer team were looking to repeat against Waterloo on Sunday. With shaky performances against the Warriors in the past the Hawks were focused on the win. The game was pretty even early on until Jimmy Ro stole the ball from a Waterloo player and fired home a blistering shot into the top left corner putting the Hawks up 1-0. Soon after, Tim LaBar scored his first of the game with a first time volley off a cross from Dan Pilas
to increase the lead to 2-0 at half time.
The second half saw the Hawks begin to relax on a two-goal lead, which enabled the Warriors to put some pressure on the defense. With a capacity crowd, the Hawks fought back and Tim Labar
scored another, his 5th goal in only four games. The Hawks almost extended the lead to four after Braden Douglas
found himself wide open on a breakaway but his bottom middle strategy didn’t fool the Waterloo keeper this time. As time ticked away the Hawks were able to hold on and Mark Ignor
recorded yet another shut out taking his total to 4 shut outs in four games.
“We had a poor performance but we were able to finish and get the job done” said Head coach BARRY MACLEAN
. The Hawks look to continue their winning streak against MacMaster on Saturday September 25th.
