Laurier: 0 Windsor: 0
With a bitter rivalry beginning with the Windsor Lancers the men’s soccer team wanted to punish Windsor for ruining their playoff run last year. The game was played at a very fast pace early on and a few good chances were created by Braden Douglas
who was seen flying by his defender as Kenny Nutt
sent him in on a breakaway. Unfortunatley no goals were scored in the first half by the Hawks and so the half time score was tied at zero.
During the second half the Hawks began to look a little tired from their long trip and the lancers managed to stir up a few offensive opportunities that were immediately stopped by the very secure goal keeping of Mark Ignor
. About fifteen minutes into the second half Ken Cartmill
and Dan Glibota
were put in the game. With a sudden burst of energy from the substitutes the men assembled some good passing plays together which resulted in a couple of solid opportunities. Nevertheless the score stood at zero and that’s how the game ended.
The Hawks coach, BARRY MACLEAN
wanted three points but was still happy with the tie considering the busy schedule his players had faced that weekend. The men have a day’s rest then they begin preparing for Brock on Friday September 17.
