Montreal, QC – Laurier’s nationally second ranked women’s hockey team defeated the tenth ranked McGill Martlets in an 1-0 overtime shootout in the first round of Concordia’s Theresa Humes Invitational.

Golden Hawk Samantha Culley (Mississauga, ON) scored the goal to defeat the hometown team in the shootout after the 10-minute OT period. Cindy Eadie (Brantford, ON) was able to stop all five McGill shots, securing the win.

Down 2-1, Head Coach RICK OSBORNE pulled the starting goalie with 30-seconds remaining in the third, and Laurissa Kenworthy (Newmarket, ON) was able to put the teams second and game-tying goal in the net to force the game to overtime. Lauren Meschino (Toronto, ON) scored the team’s first goal of the night. Laurier was out shot 29-24.
