Waterloo, ON – The Wilfrid Laurier Department of Athletics and Recreation is saddened by the loss of Baseball Assistant Coach and friend Moe Reidel.
Moe served as an assistant coach for the team for three years. His responsibilities with the team included several areas including pitching, catching, first base and bench coach. The experience garnered from 14 years spent in the minor baseball system propelled the Hawks to new heights.
Reidel’s passion for baseball was displayed in his volunteering, sponsoring and coaching of many minor baseball teams. His latest contribution was his role as a coach for Wilfrid Laurier's baseball team, who dedicated this year's season in his honour.
“It will be our goal in years to come to continue to play hard and love the game as much as Moe did,” expressed former player and current assistant coach SCOTT BALLANTYNE
. “He always went the extra mile for his players no matter what it took.”
This past spring he was awarded the "Tuffy Knight Award" from Laurier which recognizes a person not affiliated with the University for their untiring efforts in support of Laurier Athletics.
Donations can be made to either the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and can be arranged through the funeral home (519-745-8445, www.edwardrgood.com)
