WATERLOO – After five years as Coordinator of Recreation and Facilities, Sue Lindley
Clausen has decided to leave the university to pursue other opportunities. Her decision coincides with the university’s plan to restructure the Department of Athletics & Recreation.
“I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to coach, teach and work with so many dedicated and talented students at Laurier over the past 14 years,” said Lindley Clausen. “Watching the student involvement grow in the recreation area over the past five years and being involved with the Athletic Complex renovation and upcoming Fitness Centre project has been particularly gratifying.”
Sue started in the department in 1989 as head coach of the women’s basketball team. In March of 1999, she moved over to the recreation side as Coordinator of Recreation and Facilities. Since that time, she has overseen programming and scheduling that expanded to involvement of 2500 students as well as over 500 Intramural teams this past year. Lindley Clausen has also been involved in major projects including the 2.5 million dollar Athletic Complex renewal in 2000 and the 2004 Fitness Centre expansion.
“Sue has demonstrated tremendous leadership during her tenure at Laurier,” stated PETER BAXTER
, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “Her contribution to the modernization of the Athletic Complex will serve students well into the future. On behalf of the department, we thank her for all she has done as a coach, administrator and student-leader mentor.”
