Argo President & CEO, Keith Pelley to speak at 5th Annual Friends of Golden Hawk Football Reception and Dinner
[WATERLOO,ON] – Laurier Golden Hawk Athletics and the 5th Quarter Club would like to announce that the 5th Annual “Friends of Golden Hawk Football Reception and Dinner” will take place on Tuesday April 27th, 2004 at the Waterloo Inn & Conference Centre in Waterloo, Ontario. Toronto Argonaut President & CEO, Keith Pelley will speak to a SOLD OUT crowd at the fifth annual event.

“Having secured a top-rated speaker again this year, along with the continued support of Laurier Football has helped to make this a popular event”, explained PETER BAXTER, Director of Athletics at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Having just recently joined the Toronto Argonauts, Keith Pelley has spent more than 20 years in the sports arena, most recently as President of TSN. Joining the Argos in November, 2003, Pelley was announced by owners Howard Sokolowski and David Cynamon to lead the new ownership. Pelley had spent time at TSN since 1986, before leaving for a brief period in 1995 to join the Fox Sports Network and became the first Canadian to produce NFL Football. Returning to TSN, he held positions as production manager, vice-president and senior vice-president before being named President in March 2001.

The 5th Quarter Club is operated under the umbrella of the Golden Hawk Club, the fundraising organization for Athletics at Wilfrid Laurier University. The goal of the 5th Quarter Club is to raise funds for the football program and to cultivate friendships surrounding the great tradition and success of one of the top programs in Canada. Golden Hawk Football has enjoyed excellent support in the past and the proceeds from this event have helped to enhance the program over the past three seasons. Over the brief lifespan of this great event, it has now raised in excess of $115,000 for the Laurier Football program.
