Hawks Pick Up 6-1 Win Over Ravens in Interlock Game
Laurier: 6 Interlock - Carleton: 1
This evening the Women’s Hockey team defeated the Carleton Ravens 6-1. Although the loss is recognized for the Ravens, the game does not count for the Golden Hawks or in the OUA Standings.

Team captain, Alison Goodman (Oakville, ON) and Assistant captain Ashley Stephenson (Mississauga, ON) were both out for the night. The absences required Head Coach RICK OSBORNE to do some shuffling of defensive pairings. It all worked out as only nine shots were able to get through to Mary Sephton (Fergus, ON).

Golden Hawk leading scorer Fiona Aiston (Ottawa, ON) netted the only goal of the first on a breakaway. Aiston beat Carleton goaltender Laura Rollins on her stickside with less than eight minutes left in the first.

The second saw Jen Heslin (Bolton, ON) net two to put the Hawks up by three. The first of her goals was flipped over the shoulder of Rollins while the second slid in on a rebound shot as the Carleton goaltender watched lying on the ice.

Only 33 seconds into the third rookie Fiona Aiston picked up her second of the night. Carleton’s Katy Reynolds was able to pick up their only goal on the night on a power-play as a result of Jen Heslin’s cross-checking penalty. The Hawks would put it away finishing the game with two more goals by Amanda Joseph (Oakville, ON) and Candice Djukic (Binbrook, ON).

The Golden Hawks play their second interlock game tomorrow night against the Concordia Stingers. The Stingers are ranked #2 in Canada. Game time is set for 7:30pm at Clarica Arena.
