[Waterloo] – The goal of building one of Canada’s best Interuniversity athletic programs continues today as the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks have appointed two people to fill the vacant head coach positions in the men’s volleyball and men’s rugby programs. Shayne White
, one of the assistant coaches from the women’s volleyball team will be taking the helm of the men’s volleyball program while Josh Windsor
will lead men’s rugby.
Shayne will build on his experience with the women’s volleyball team as he has been an assistant coach for the past two seasons. Shayne’s previous experience includes having coached at the provincial level in Alberta as he led the men’s midget team to become the Western Canadian elite champions and the women’s team to a third place finish. “Shayne demonstrated great leadership and dedication as an assistant under women’s coach Dave McIntyre
,” noted Athletic Director PETER BAXTER
. “His experience at the provincial level in Alberta and his commitment to teaching players the finer points of the game will help develop Laurier’s men’s volleyball program.”
Leading the men’s rugby program, Josh Windsor is a former OUA All-Star who played at University of Waterloo. He has previously coached and now is the executive director for the Waterloo county rugby club. He also coaches at Waterloo Collegiate Institute and is a teacher-coach. “Josh brings a wealth of experience in rugby and is a solid teacher of the game,” said PETER BAXTER
. “Together with his assistant Mike Lippert, they bring a youthful enthusiasm to the men’s rugby program.”
