Laurier finishes Second in the OUA
Western wins their Fourth OUA Championship WATERLOO, Ont.- The Golden Hawks felt a heart felt loss as they witnessed the Western Mustangs walk away as the OUA Champions at their Bechtel Park home diamond in Waterloo. The Mustangs beat the Golden Hawks in game one of the series by a final score of 6-0, and went on to win game two 3-1 taking the series and the championship.

Hawks advance to OUA Championship
Laurier sweeps Mac 2-0 in the semifinal series HAMILTON, Ont. - The Golden Hawks traveled to Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton to meet the McMaster Marauders in the second game of their semifinal series, where they beat out the defending OUA Champions 3-2 in an exciting match up. The win advances the Hawks to the OUA Championship series where they will face the Western Mustangs for the top spot.

Laurier wins first game of the semifinals
MacDonald and Shrive hit big for the Hawks WATERLOO, Ont.- After a rain delay earlier in the weekend, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks were able to host the first game of the semifinal playoff series against the McMaster Marauders at Bechtel Park. The Golden Hawks edged McMaster late in the game to earn a 4-2 victory over the Marauders, and take the first game of the three game series.

The hot corner for Laurier's baseball team has a solid piece in play for the next few seasons, as Ryan Panas emerged as an all-star during the 2008 season. The former Toronto Mets player hit for .300, finishing in the top-10 of all OUA ball players. The Golden Hawks will need Panas' strong glove and bat to produce even more as they hope to bounce back from a sub .500 season in 2008.The third baseman earned both OUA all-star and all-rookie honours for his 2008 campaign. |
