Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex and Sun Life Financial Arena

Located on Father Davis Drive in Waterloo

Home to Golden Hawk: hockey and intramural programs

The Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex opened in September, 1993, and is owned and operated by the City of Waterloo. Its facilities are used by the Waterloo community for a multitude of purposes.

Within the Complex, the Sun Life Financial Arena can be found, and its Olympic-size ice surface (30m x 60m) provides a perfect location for Golden Hawk hockey and intramural programs to thrive. The space provides 3399 seats and a standing-surface area for 913. The building also offers six adjoining dressing rooms including custom-designed rooms for the Golden Hawks.

The features of the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex include:

  • 2385 evening/weekend parking spaces available all within 10 minutes of walking distance. There are also 900 weekday spaces available located adjacent to the site.

  • Five-lane 220m track surrounding the upper arena seating area.

  • 30m swimming pool with moveable floor, multi-level pool, giant waterslide, two diving towers, and a large spa.

  • Main food court and concessions located throughout the entire building.

  • 550-person banquet hall, two kitchens, and bar facilities.

  • Three additional meeting rooms for classroom study, local club rentals and private functions.
