Aerobics is a form of physical activity that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training with the goal of improving all elements of fitness. Laurier offers over 30 hours of aerobics programming a week, aimed towards toning your body and keeping you in shape! Now, for the first time ever, the Aerobics pass will be sold in combination with the Pilates and yoga pass! This will allow Laurier students to benefit from a program that combines a fitness program to benefit both your physical, mental and spiritual health. The Wellness Pass is available for the low price of $70+ HST.
Get ready for a work-out that is high energy, fun, and challenging. With over 30 classes a week, the aerobics program is sure to fill your fitness needs. We offer a variety of class formats taught by certified Fitness Instructors. So grab your running shoes, wear something comfortable and bring lots of water, because our Fitness Instructors will push you to reach your fitness goals! For a small fee you can attend as many or as few of the scheduled classes.
Double Play Pass Vary your workout and save money! Register for the Double Play Pass to select two of the Wellness, Cycle Fit and Climbing Wall programs for the reduced rate of $110 + HST.
Drop In Fee If you are not necessarily planning on attending fitness classes on a regular basis, there is the option of the Drop in Fee, which allows you to attend any Fitness or Cycle class for $7 per class. So, if you missed the free week and would like to try out a class before purchasing the Wellness Pass, you may do so by paying $7 per class. If you decide to try a class using the Drop in Fee, be aware that if the class is full of participants who have paid for the Wellness pass you will have to use your Drop in Pass for another class.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
20/20/20: This cardio based class will give you a well rounded work out in one hour! Beginning with 2 cardio segments and finishing off with a muscle conditioning component, this class is designed to test your endurance, burn calories, tone and strengthen your entire body.
Athletic Conditioning: Not just a guy’s class. If you are looking to gain speed, agility, strength and power, this is the class for you. This class challenges you to train more like an athlete by combining several functional and plyometric exercises that will improve your overall physical performance.
Balance C.O.R.E: This class mainly uses the Yoga Ball to tone and strengthen your entire body. The Yoga Ball is a classic way to spice up old exercises, lower the impact on joints (great for people who have injuries!) and to give each muscle – particularly the core - a more challenging workout.
Bells Balls Bars: An invigorating muscle conditioning class that will work you from head to toe. This class will utilize three different fitness tools – dumbbells, yoga balls, and body bars – to get you the best results as efficiently as possible.
Bootcamp: A modern fitness phenomenon yet classic military style workout is guaranteed to get results. This high energy class will test your aerobic and anaerobic systems that will leave you feeling stronger and fitter than you’ve ever been. Be prepared for both aerobic and muscle conditioning drills that will work to improve your overall fitness.
Cardio Fusion: A cardio based class that will fuse multiple fitness styles into one. This creative class is designed to maximize your workout by challenging each participant to maintain a medium-high intensity pace. Styles that will be explored will vary with each instructor! One day, you could be building your stamina with Kickboxing and HiLo and another, it could be a fun Step and Dance-cardio inspired workout!
Gliders: This small piece of equipment gives big results. These pieces of equipment provide an excellent core workout while you tone and sculpt your entire body.
Intervitality: A newer class offered at WLU that will guarantee that all participants leave with a post workout caloric burn. This interval class will focus on challenging a pair muscle groups, followed by a cardio burst. This class will alternate between muscle conditioning and cardio. You can now say goodbye to 2 hour + workouts in the gym! Build strength, tone your body and leave feeling great!
Kickboxing: This classic cardio workout is designed to challenge the upper and lower body in both aerobic and anaerobic techniques creating an all in one, power packed workout.
Strip-to-Fit: This sassy class is a low impact cardio-movement based workout that is great for getting your heart rate pumping and having fun. Explore styles such as Burlesque, Striptease, and Bluesy Jazz that will leave you feeling more confident and sexy about your body. This class is dedicated to women of all shapes and sizes and focuses on the core muscle groups and lower body.
Sculpt n Burn: A classic muscle conditioning class that will put your strength and muscular endurance to the test. This head to toe work out will teach participants of all fitness levels how to maximize their workout and properly use a variety of fitness equipment. The class is designed for sculpting the body and helping you reach your fitness goals as efficiently as possible. You won’t want to miss out on this one!
Step Up: A classic step class infused with an upbeat and modern vibe! Steps are perfect for toning the lower body and increasing your caloric output. This high energy class will get your heart rate pumping and will leave you feeling energized.
Zumba: Combines high-energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba participants to dance away their worries. Add some spice and flare to your workout with this Latin-based group exercise class that is fun and easy to do. No dance experience required!

Wilfrid Laurier University’s Department of Athletics & Recreation is home to varsity sports as well as numerous intramural, recreation & fitness programs. Over 6,000 students at Laurier participate in 30 intramural sports and 40 recreational programs annually.
All Fitness and Recreational classes and instruction require an additional fee to assist with the instructional component to the class. Registration takes place early in the term through an online process.
