Construction of the Laurier pool began at the beginning of June, 2009, and the facility is scheduled to be open once again in the Fall of 2009.
This Olympic length (50 m) pool features six lanes. It is home to the Laurier Golden Hawk swimming team, the Region of Waterloo (ROW) Swim Club, the Laurier competitive lifeguarding team, prospective National Team members and many previous Olympic swimmers.
The pool provides over thirty hours of recreation programming every week, including lane swimming, fun swims and intramurals. Upon re-opening, programming will be expanded to offer students even more aquatic activities.
The aquatic programming offered here includes swimming and lifesaving instruction. Private and group lessons are offered to members who would like to learn basic swimming skills or improve their stroke, speed and endurance. Lifesaving instruction courses include the Lifesaving Society bronze awards, first aid courses and National Lifesaving certification.
