Brantford Fitness Classes

Want to get in shape but need some extra motivation to keep you going? Than Laurier Brantford’s Fitness Classes are for you! Since January 2015, Laurier Brantford has been collaborating their fitness classes with the Brantford YMCA, offering you hours of aerobic programming each week. Our new bundled fitness schedule gives you more class variety and more convenient class times. Now bundled into one schedule, classes such as Bootcamp, Cyclefit, Bootylicious, Yoga, Zumba, TRX Tabata, and much more will give you that extra push that you are looking for!

All fitness classes are FREE to any Laurier student, Wilkes facility member, or YMCA member. A Fitness Class Pass can be purchased for $2.00 for any non-member who is interested in participating.

Faculty/Staff Fitness Classes

Are you a faculty/staff member that is interested in participating in fitness classes? Check out our Staff/Faculty Fitness Schedule for classes run specifically for staff!

These classes are offered for the low price of $2 a class and all that is required to participate is that you fill out a Registration Form at the start of the semester.

Wilkes House Class Descriptions:

AB ATTACK: The aim of this workout is to train all the muscles of the core, alternating between upper and lower abdominals and back to produce chiseled abs of steel.

BOOT CAMP: A modern fitness phenomenon, yet classic military style workout that is guaranteed to get results. This high energy class will test your aerobic and anaerobic systems and will leave you feeling stronger and fitter than ever before. Be prepared for both aerobic and muscle conditioning drills that will work to improve your overall fitness. Available in both beginner and regular levels.  

BOOTYLICIOUS: This Women’s Only class focuses on high intensity circuit training, largely body weight based with a military style twist! If the name doesn’t describe it enough, this class will target some of the biggest muscles in your body… your booty! 

SCULPT & SWEAT: A classic circuit-style class that will put your strength and muscular endurance to the test. This head to toe work out will teach participants of all fitness levels how to maximize their workout and reach their fitness goals as efficiently as possible.

TRX TABATA: A high intensity interval style workout that uses a scientific formula to deliver the best workout possible. Using a popular new body-weight strap suspension system, this class focuses on a variety of different moves done in 20-second intervals with 10 second recoveries in between. Each move is done at your own pace, so this class is great for all fitness levels!

YOGA: Relaxation techniques, breathing, gentle stretches and mediation techniques to relieve cramped muscles, sore backs, headaches and over-stuffed brains. Available in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

ZUMBA: Join the party!  This fun, easy-to-follow, format will introduce you to international dance moves and rhythms.  You’ll get the best blend of traditional Zumba flavor with the appropriate dose of fitness options thrown in. You’ll be sweating without even knowing it!

YMCA Class Descriptions:

BODY FIT: This class incorporates both hand weights and barbells to provide you with a full-body weight training program that is both fun and challenging!

BOOTCAMP: Looking for a good butt-kicking? Than Bootcamp is for you! This high-intensity cardio and circuit workout will give you a killer workout and leave you feeling stronger and more energized.

CORE STRENGTH: Your core is one of the most important muscle groups in your body, so spend some time focusing on it! This 45-minute class is focused on developing strength and functional ability in the abdominals and back.

CYCLEFIT: Want to challenge yourself? Cyclefit is a great high-intensity workout. This indoor-cycle class simulates riding flats, hills and climbs in combination with fun drills that will improve your cardio and keep you toned.

PILATES: Components of Pilates, Yoga and core conditioning to help you develop and maintain a stronger back and abs, increased flexibility and long, lean muscles.

PUMP & PEDAL: Want to improve your cardio and your strength at the same time? Than come try out Pump & Pedal! This duo class gives you the best of both worlds by doing both cycle drills and strength moves.

20/20/20: This head-to-toe resistance training class uses a variety of equipment and a variety of moves to give you a well-rounded workout. The structure of the class is based on a timeline of 20 minutes cardio, 20 minutes strength and 20 minutes core. 

YOGA: A dynamic fitness class utilizing Yoga techniques, postures and positions. Designed to develop strength and flexibility, reduce stress and tensions, and increase overall health and vitality. Yoga mats are available if needed.
