WATERLOO, Ont. (March 10, 2014) - Women's basketball guard Kaitlyn Schenck of Kitchener, Ont., has been named the Laurier Bookstore Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 9, 2014.
Schenck was named the Golden Hawks' player of the game as they won the OUA Bronze Medal and booked their spot in the CIS Championship on Saturday. Taking on the Carleton Ravens on the road, Schenck scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down a career-best five rebounds to lead Laurier to a 70-65 double-overtime victory. The second year psychology major shot 38 percent from the field (5-for-13) which included an impressive 50 percent from three point range (2-for-4). Schenck's play helped punch the Hawks ticket to the CIS Championship where they will compete for the Bronze Baby Trophy for the fourth time in school history.
This is the first time in her career that Schenck has been named the Female Athlete of the Week.
