WATERLOO, Ont. (September 23, 2013) - Women's soccer forward Emily Brown of Waterloo, Ont., and men's football running back Dillon Campbell of Whitby, Ont., have been named the Laurier Bookstore Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 22, 2013.
Brown scored a pair of goals this past weekend to give No. 9 Wilfrid Laurier four more points on the season. The third year business major scored the game winning goal in the Hawks 2-1 win over UOIT and added a second tally in their 1-1 tie with York. Brown now has four goals on the season and her performance helped the Hawks move into a three-way tie for first in the OUA West division.
This marks the fifth time in her career that Brown has been named the Female Athlete of the Week.
Campbell was once again Wilfrid Lauriers top offensive performer this past weekend. The third year kinesiology and physical education major rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, averaging over 10 yards per carry, in the Hawks 45-24 loss to No. 2 Western. Highlighting his day was a 100 yard touchdown run in the second quarter which was the second longest rush from scrimmage in Laurier history. His performance pushed him into top spot in the OUA for rushing yards and third in the CIS with 538.
Campbell takes home Male Athlete of the Week honours for the second consecutive week.
