Yeldon, Allin named Athletes of the Week
WATERLOO, Ont. (February 25, 2013) - Women's basketball forward Kimberley Yeldon of Ottawa, and men's basketball guard Maxwell Allin of Chatham, Ont., have been named the Laurier Bookstore Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 24, 2013. Yeldon set a new-career high for points in a game in the Golden Hawks 58-54 playoff loss to the Western Mustangs last week. The third year sociology major scored 20 points on 8-of-21 shooting while also pulling down 10 rebounds to earn her ninth career double-double. This is the second time that Yeldon has earned Female Athlete of the Week honours. Allin led all players in scoring in the Golden Hawks 81-75 playoff defeat to the hands of the Brock Badgers last week. The fourth year guard finished with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor. The fourth year arts major also had eight rebounds and five assists while playing all 40 minutes of the OUA playoff contest. Allin takes home Male Athlete of the Week honours for the sixth time this season and the 13th overall in his career. |
