Curling program announces tryout dates

WATERLOO, Ont. (July 17, 2012) - Wilfrid Laurier curling head coach Gary Crossley announced on Tuesday the tryout dates for the men's and women's curling teams for the upcoming 2012-13 season.

Prior to tryouts, there will be an introductory meeting for those trying out on Sunday, September 16 at 7 p.m. at the KW Granite Club.

Tryouts will begin on Monday, September 17 at the KW Granite Club and will run from 9 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. They will run at the same time on both Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19 with the team being announced on Sunday, September 23. A fitness testing session will also be conducted on Thursday, September 20 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the location to be determined. 

Prospective first year curling athletes please take note of the following mandatory meetings: 

- 1st Year Student Athlete Orientation - Thursday Sept. 6 - 10:00am - Science Building N1002

- Performance Enhancing Drug and Nutrition Education Session - Thursday Sept. 20 - 8:00pm - Bricker Academic Building RM102

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MEDICAL INFORMATION:

Incoming first year student athletes (including freshmen, transfer students,and WLU students not in first year who have not participated in an interuniversity sport) are required to have completed, by a physician, the Initial Health Assessment Form before they participate in an interuniversity sport, which includes the first try-out. Returning student athletes are required to complete the Veteran Athlete Health Assessment Form, before they participate in interuniversity sport, which includes the first try-out. This form updates the student athlete's medical history over the past 12 months. Forms can be found by clicking on the following link: http://www.laurierathletics.com/therapy/TF-VET.pdf

Any athlete who has been prescribed any medications must declare them on their medical questionnaire.
