Hawks set for national golf championship
VICTORIA, B.C. (May 29, 2012) - The best university and college golfers in Canada are in Victoria this week to compete in the 10th edition of the Canadian University/College Championship, conducted by Golf Canada and hosted by the Victoria Vikes. The four day tournament, which begins on Monday with the practice rounds, is being played at Cordova Bay Golf Course. It is the same course that hosted the championship back in 2008 when UBC took home the men's title and host Vikes took home the women's crown. The Golden Hawks, who placed 13th at last years event, will be looking to build on their fifth place finish at the OUA Championship back in October. The team will be led by OUA First Team All-Star Jordan Oudyk of Oshawa, Ont., who finished fifth in the individual competition at Octobers provincial championship, as well as Brett Murray of Newmarket, Ont., who was an OUA Second Team All-Star in 2011. Joining Oudyk and Murray will be veteran Matthew Farronato of Hamilton, James Seymour of Aurora, Ont., and Jacob Bishop of Dundas, Ont. In total, there are 20 mens teams competing at this weeks championship including last years champions from Humber College. For live results of the championship, beginning at 11 a.m. EST on Tuesday morning, please visit the Golf Canada website.
