MacDonald & Allin earn OUA Awards
HAMILTON, Ont. – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) is pleased to announce its West major award winners and all-stars for men’s basketball. The Golden Hawks picked up two awards with Jesse MacDonald (Brantford, Ont.) being named to the second OUA West all-star team and Maxwell Allin (Chatham, Ont.) earning OUA West all-rookie honours.
Fifth year team captain Jesse MacDonald earned the second all-star award of his career after leading Laurier in scoring with 345 points and steals with 33. The business major was a key part of the Golden Hawks playoff run and cracked the 1,000 career point barrier during the regular season. First year wing player Maxwell Allin picks up his first provincial award while playing for the Purple and Gold. The kinesiology major led the Hawks in rebounding with 174 boards and was fourth in the CIS in defensive rebounding. He was also third on the squad in scoring with 254 points. The men’s basketball team finished the regular season in fifth place in the OUA West with a 10-12 record.
