| Men's rugby head coach leaves to pursue other opportunities | Wednesday, March 3, 2010

| | WATERLOO, Ont. - After seven seasons with the Golden Hawk men's rugby program, Head Coach Josh Windsor has resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Windsor, a long time native of Kitchener-Waterloo, coached the Golden Hawks posting a 26-25 lifetime win-loss record. A total of 17 athletes have received all-star honours through his time at the helm of the program.
“I would like to thank my coaching staff, alumni, parents, players and the WLU Athletic department. With support we were extremely successful in building a culture of professionalism where our student athletes began to thrive both on the rugby pitch and in the University community at large,” commented Windsor on his experience at Laurier. “I have had the opportunity to work with many great individuals including multiple groups of outstanding young men.”
Twice the Golden Hawks qualified for the play-offs during his tenure, losing both times in the first round, with the most recent being this past year when the McMaster Marauders defeated the Hawks 15-0.
“Josh has provided the men's rugby program with stability and a sense of pride over the past seven years,” said Director of Athletics and Recreation Peter Baxter. “On behalf of Wilfrid Laurier University, the Department of Athletics and the student athletes that have played for Josh, I would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment and wish him the best of luck in the future.”
The search for a new Head Coach will begin immediately.
