Varsity Cheerleading Open Practice Do you have what it takes to be a Laurier cheerleader?
Interested
in joining a National Championship-winning varsity team that challenges you to
show tremendous school spirit all while demonstrating incredible athleticism
through lifting, tumbling or being tossed into the air??
The Laurier Cheerleading Team, like other varsity teams at Laurier has
practices in the summer and all year long (two to three practices per week) in
addition to supporting our teams on evenings and weekends and competing in the University
National Cheerleading Championships!
This is an exciting team to be a part of for many reasons, some of which
include: the opportunity to cheer at the university level, to be a varsity athlete
on campus, to use your previous cheerleading/ gymnastics/ dance background, to
be challenged to be in your best physical condition, to learn invaluable time
management skills, to show your Laurier school spirit and of course to have
fun!!
If this amazing opportunity interests you, please join us at the OPEN Practice
being held Sunday May 24th from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the University Stadium Gym
on Laurier's Waterloo Campus. This is a great chance for new recruits to meet
current members of the team and experience what a team practice is like. We suggest
arriving at 11:45 a.m. so those interested can meet the coaches before practice
starts. To participate you must have accepted an offer of admission to Laurier
and have a student number with you.
When you come to practice, please come dressed
in t-shirt and shorts, with your hair securely tied back and wearing
appropriate athletic footwear. During the practice you will be expected to
demonstrate your tumbling (you MUST be able to demonstrate some tumbling
ability to be considered for the team), stunting, running and jumping skills,
so please make sure that you are continuing to train hard now!
